O-5-402 Samsung Tablet: Microsoft Outlook MFA Set Up

🎯 Purpose

Outlines the steps to set up MFA (Multifactor Authentication) to verify a user’s identity to allow log-in to Microsoft Outlook on a Samsung Tablet.


🔄 Process

If applicable, delete existing account first. If this a new user tablet set up, then skip down to Step #8.

1.      Open Microsoft Outlook application:

2.      Select icon in upper left corner to access settings:

3.      Select Settings icon:

4.      Select Accounts:

5.      Select existing account:

6.      Scroll down and select Remove account:

7.      When prompted, select Remove:

8.      Sign into Microsoft Outlook:

9.      Select Add account:

10.  Add Full E-mail (including @adarahomehealth.com)

11.  Select Continue:

12.  Enter current password. Select Sign In:

13.  Select Next to set up MFA (Multi Factor Authentication):

NOTE: There are multiple options available to set up MFA: Microsoft Authenticator App, different authenticator app, or phone/text. User must choose one to set up.

Available sign-in methods:  

Microsoft Authenticator App: Install the Microsoft Authenticator App to receive a code for each sign-in.

  • Select Next:

  • Refer to O-5-401 Microsoft Authenticator App for instructions on setting up the application and use of the app for multi-factor authentication.

Phone/Text: Get a text to sign in with a code.

  • Select “Set up a different way to sign in”:

  • Select Phone:

  • Add your phone number and select Next:

  • User will receive text message on cell phone with code:

  • Enter the code, select Next:

  • Confirm phone number added. Select Done:

Different Authentication App: Other authentication apps are available, such as Google Authenticator.

  • When prompted, select “Set up a different authentication app” and follow the prompts:


NOTE: MFA must be set up for Outlook account before moving forward. Once initiated, user will not be able to sign into Outlook until MFA is established and verified.


  1. Once MFA method has been set up, user will be prompted to use this method for all apps/services. Select Yes:

  1. Select Yes to allow device management:

  1. Account has been added to device. Select Done:

  1. User may be prompted to log back in using MFA method. Outlook error may also populate indicating it cannot start. Select OK to close out and then sign back into Outlook:
